MaxPreps Top 25 high school football scores: Quentin Gibson leads No. 3 North Crowley to 50-21 win over No. 11 Westlake in 6A Division 1 state championship

Luke Nickel leads No. 2 Milton to 56-35 win over Langston Hughes in Georgia 5A state championship.

In the final high school football game of the 2024 season Colorado-bound wide receiver Quentin Gibson led No. 3 North Crowley (Fort Worth, Texas) to a 50-21 win over No. 11 Westlake (Austin, Texas) in the UIL Texas 6A Division 1 state championship. It was the Panthers first state title since 2003.

Gibson hauled in seven receptions for 181 yards and three touchdowns. 

He finished his senior campaign with 36 receiving scores, which is the fourth-most in state history in one season. He broke Jaxon Smith-Njigba's Dallas-Fort Worth area record of 35. His finished the season with 93 catches for 2,009 yards and 36 touchdowns.

Senior quarterback Chris Jimerson completed 14 of 23 passes for 299 yards and four touchdowns. He added seven carries for 63 yards and another score. Cornelius Warren III had 23 rushes for 217 yards and a touchdown.



The Panthers finished the year 16-0 and averaged 54 points per game. They had notable wins over No. 7 Duncanville, No. 11 Westlake (Austin), DeSoto, Guyer (Denton), Byron Nelson (Trophy Club) Coppell and Allen.

No. 2 Milton won Georgia's 5A state championship on Tuesday against Langston Hughes (Fairburn) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Milton won its second consecutive state title with a 56-35 win. Future Miami Hurricane Luke Nickel completed 21 of 22 passes for 413 yards and four touchdowns. Georgia-bound tight end Ethan Barbour had a team-high nine receptions for 139 yards and a score. Senior running back TJ Lester concluded his high school career with 25 carries for 201 yards and three touchdowns.

It was the 25th straight win for the Eagles and Nickel is on the short list of candidates to be named the MaxPreps Georgia High School Football Player of the Year. It will be announced on Dec. 23.

No. 24 Grayson (Loganville) won its fourth state title in program history and first since 2020 with a 38-24 win over No. 4 Carrollton on Wednesday. Five-star junior linebacker Tyler Atkinson led the way on defense racking up eight tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks. Senior cornerback Vaughn Mitchom had a huge game picking off Julian Lewis two times.

Senior running back Elijah Miller headlined a strong rushing attack for the Rams carrying the ball 20 times for 109 yards and three scores. With the game tied at 24 late in the third quarter, Miller scored from 2-yards out to give the Rams a 31-24 lead.



On Carrollton's next drive, Mitchom came up with a big interception that kept momentum with Grayson. After the Trojans defense got a stop, Mitchom got his second interception of the night setting up the Rams at Carrollton's 34-yard line. On fourth-and-1 Miller scored his third touchdown of the night with a 25-yard score. 

Lewis finished his last high school game throwing for 333 yards and two touchdowns. He finished his career as the state's seventh all-time passing leader with 11,010 yards and his 144 passing touchdowns were the fifth-most.

No. 23 Grimsley (Greensboro, N.C.) won the 4A state championship with a 35-23 win over Rolesville on Friday at Kenan Memorial Stadium. The Whirlies jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and never trailed. The closest the Rams got was 21-17 in the third quarter but that is when Grimsley's five-star junior quarterback Faizon Brandon took over.

He connected with Kaden Catoe on a key third down for a 28-yard gain to set the Whirlies up at the Rolesville 25 on the final play of the third quarter. He punched it in from one yard out to push the lead to 28-17 with 9:45 left. 

After Bryce Davis made a huge hit on Braden Atkinson to force a turnover on downs, Brandon threw a great ball to Hudson Cooper for a 63-yard touchdown two plays later to seal the victory.
