Luke Eubank tops California All-State Baseball Teams

Luke Eubank led Newbury Park to the Southern Section Division I championship, posting an 11-0 record and throwing three no-hitters along the way.

Thus, Eubank is the choice for the MaxPreps California State Baseball Player of the Year. Eubank was also named the Player of the Year by the Ventura County Star, the Los Angeles Times, the Southern Section Coaches and the Los Angeles Daily News. He led Newbury Park to a 21-7 record and a No. 19 Xcellent 25 National Ranking.

Eubank is one of 60 players on the MaxPreps All-State Team with 30 members on the first team and 30 on the second. MaxPreps has also selected Medium Schools and Small Schools All-State Teams with a pair of San Diego area players earning MVP honors.

Troy Conyers of El Capitan was a threat on the mound and at the plate in leading his team to the San Diego Section Division III championship game. He posted a 9-2 record with 131 strikeouts and also batted .394 with five home runs in earning Medium Schools Player of the Year honors.

Nolan Gannon of Santa Fe Christian helped lead the Eagles to a 28-5 record and a San Diego Section Division IV championship over Madison. Gannon finished 10-2 on the season with 141 strikeouts. He was also chosen No. 152 overall by the Tampa Bay Rays in the MLB Draft. He was the highest player chosen from the San Diego Section and he was also the highest-chosen small schools player.

Bullard coach Chad Thornhill is the State Coach of the Year. He guided the Knights to a 26-7 overall record and the Central Section Division I championship. The Knights finished ranked No. 43 overall in the Xcellent 25 Final National Rankings.
