The high school football season in Florida came to a close over the weekend of Dec. 7-9 with the crowning of nine state champions. As an independent
IMG Academy (Bradenton) did not participate in any of those contests but earned the No. 1 ranking in the final MaxPreps Florida Top 25 after going 10-0 against a challenging national schedule.
IMG Academy competed against schools from eight different states and outscored its opposition 335-99 on the year. Led by Liberty commit
Jayden Bradford, who threw for 1,433 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, the Ascenders took down national No. 7 St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia, Pa.) and national No. 19 Ben Davis (Indianapolis, Ind.).
Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood) finished the year ranked No. 2 in the state and the Lions were one of five schools in Florida to finish the season with an unblemished record at 14-0.
