On a live national broadcast, Barnes picked the Tar Heels over arch-rival Duke in a decision that drew the buzz of not only the state, but the nation. Barnes had an illustrious year at Ames, where his teams went 53-0 his final two seasons. He averaged 26.1 points, 10 rebounds, 3.1 assists and three steals his senior campaign before embarking on a two-year college run for the Tar Heels. He was the No. 1 pick of the Golden State Warriors and No. 7 selection overall of the 2012 NBA Draft and now is living up to his billing.
