Super Bowl LX takes place Sunday in Santa Clara,
Calif., as the New England Patriots face the
Seattle Seahawks. In terms of tracking where this year's participants
played high school football, Texas will be the best-represented state with
14 former players expected to take the field at Levi's Stadium.
Smith-Njigba
finished his career third in state history in career receiving yards
(5,414) and receiving touchdowns (63). He was a first team selection on
the
2020 MaxPreps All-America Team after leading
Rockwall to its first state semifinal appearance since 1987. He posted 109 catches for 2,161 yards and 34 touchdowns.
California has the second-most players featured with 13 led by
Sam Darnold. He was a two-sport standout in football and basketball. During his senior year he led
San Clemente to a 12-2 record after accounting for 3,770 yards of total offense and 52 touchdowns. He led the Tritons in scoring (14.9 points per game) and rebounding (8.5) while leading them to a South Coast League title.
In total, 30 different states have at least one participant in Super Bowl LX.
