High school record/path: After spending his freshman season at Poly, he transferred to Roosevelt where he was ruled ineligible for his sophomore season due to transfer rules. He led Roosevelt to back-to-back top five finishes during his junior and senior seasons with a record of 66-6 during that span and an Open Division state title during his final year.
Stats/accomplishments: Averaged 29.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.9 steals per contest to earn first team MaxPreps All-America honors as a senior. Burries also earned third team MaxPreps All-America honors as a junior with averages of 24.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.7 steals per game.
Outstanding achievement: Broke the Open Division state title game record with 44 points to go along with 12 rebounds in an 80-60 victory over Archbishop Riordan (San Francisco). Burries also scored 37 points apiece in the state quarterfinals and semifinals.
Needs work: At 6-foot-4, Burries has primarily played as a two-guard throughout his career as he has not averaged over 3.5 assists per contest at any point in his career dating back to high school. At his size, he may need to transition into more of a playmaker to reach his potential in the NBA.
Best fit/likely landing spot: Mocks have Burries going between the No. 8 pick and No. 14 selection in the upcoming draft. One intriguing spot is Golden State at No. 11 as Burries could provide an immediate scoring spark off the bench for Steph Curry and company.
