With the high school football regular season around the midway point in California, several players have hit the stat sheet hard. In California alone, 18 quarterbacks have thrown for at least 1,500 passing yards.
Marino Fragata of
Johnson (Sacramento) leads the state with 2,040 passing yards. The junior has thrown for over 300 yards every game, including a 516-yard, seven-touchdown game over Galt in a 54-27 win. Fragata has 26 passing touchdowns in five games for the 4-1 Warriors.
Brady Smigiel of
Newbury Park is second in the Golden State after throwing for 418 yards last week. The freshman has 1,774 yards and 21 passing touchdowns this season for a 5-1 team. Smigiel adds five touchdowns on the ground.
Tanner Wilson of
Sunnyside (Fresno) is another signal-caller to watch. The sophomore has thrown for more than 450 yards twice including a 474 yard day to open the season for the 3-2 Wildcats.
