High school girls basketball: Nike Tournament of Champions preview, bracket, teams and players to watch

The Nike Tournament of Champions tips off Thursday, Dec. 18 and runs through Monday, Dec. 22 at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa.

The annual event features six teams in this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school girls basketball rankings along with a host of highly-regarded players across several of the eight brackets.

NIKE TOC: Vincent Cannizzaro Division bracket

No. 1 Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.) headlines the Vincent Cannizzaro Division as the Monarchs look to win one of the nation's most prestigious tournaments for the third straight year.

Joining Mitty in the top tier are No. 3 Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.), No. 7 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), No. 8 Bullis (Potomac, Md.), No. 11 Monsignor Scanlan (Bronx, N.Y.) and National Top 10 No. 1 Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, N.Y.).

Rounding out the 16-team Cannizzarro Division are Bartlett (Tenn.), Centennial (Las Vegas, Nev.), Democracy Prep Agassi Campus (Las Vegas, Nev.), Fairmont Prep (Anaheim, Calif.), Lone Peak (Highland, Utah), Millennium (Goodyear, Ariz.), Mt. Zion Prep Academy (Lanham, Md.), Newcastle (Okla.), San Ramon Valley (Danville, Calif.) and St. Mary's (Lancaster, N.Y.).

The tournament offers a glimpse into the future of women's basketball with 12 of the top 100 players in the Class of 2026, eight of the top 100 from the Class of 2027 and five top players from the Class of 2029.
