High school football rankings: No. 3 Duncanville, No. 9 North Crowley set for MaxPreps Top 25 showdown in Texas

The Class 6A Division 1 semifinals in Texas feature two big-time matchups sure to have major MaxPreps Top 25 ramifications led by No. 3 Duncanville vs. No. 9 North Crowley (Fort Worth) on Saturday at Eagle Stadium. 

Duncanville has won 20 in a row and is two wins away from winning its third consecutive state title. North Crowley is 28-1 over the last two years with the lone loss coming to the defending champs in last year's semifinal, 52-10.

Alabama-bound quarterback Keelon Russell has thrown for 3,882 yards and 52 touchdowns in 13 games for Duncanville while Colorado-bound wideout Quentin Gibson has 81 receptions for 1,721 yards and 31 touchdowns for North Crowley. 

No. 6 North Shore (Houston) faces Westlake (Austin) on Saturday at Legacy Stadium in the other Class 6A Division 1 semifinal. Three new teams join this week's rankings in American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.), Weddington (Matthews, N.C.) and Grayson (Loganville, Ga.).

No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana) looks to solidify its spot and go wire-to-wire as the top-ranked team with a win Saturday against No. 21 De La Salle (Concord) in California's Open Division state championship. The Monarchs are going for their ninth win against a MaxPreps Top 25 opponent this season. 

De La Salle is making its first title game appearance since 2019. The Spartans are going for their eighth state title since the CIF began holding state championship games in 2006 and first in nine years. They have lost seven state title games in a row.

In Florida, No. 11 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood), No. 13 Lakeland, No. 19 Venice and No. 23 American Heritage are all going for state titles this week.

Chaminade-Madonna seeks its fourth consecutive state championship against Clearwater Central Catholic (Clearwater) on Wednesday in 1A. Lakeland is going for its third straight state title Thursday against St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) in 5A. Venice faces Lake Mary on Saturday in 7A and the American Heritage takes on Jones (Orlando) on Friday in 4A.

Carrollton moved up one spot to No. 4 after snapping Buford's 12-game win streak with a 30-17 win in Georgia's 6A semifinals. Julian Lewis completed 15 of 18 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns. The Trojans will face Grayson in the 6A state championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Dec. 18.

Luke Nickel led No. 2 Milton to its 24th straight win with a 56-28 victory over Lee County (Leesburg) in Georgia's 5A semifinals. The Miami-bound quarterback completed 12 of 19 passes for 302 yards and four touchdowns to go with 92 yards rushing and two more scores. Georgia-bound wideout C.J. Wiley hauled in five receptions for 165 yards and three touchdowns. The Eagles will face Langston Hughes (Fairburn) in the title game Dec. 17.
