One can make the case that
Marlon Humphrey is the nation's best athlete.
It would be a pretty strong case, actually.
The 6-foot, 180-pound senior from
Hoover (Ala.) is one of the nation's top defensive backs and among the top recruits regardless of position, checking in as the
No. 5 overall recruit in the 247Composite.
He's also an internationally-acclaimed hurdler.

"We want guys that are great athletes. We want great football players, but we want football players who are great athletes," Hoover head football coach Josh Niblett told MaxPreps over the summer.
While his track credentials are stellar — including five state titles as a sophomore and three state records — football appears to be Humphrey's future calling.
That's because his football resume is perhaps even more stellar.
Humphrey earned MaxPreps Sophomore and
Junior All-American honors, leading Hoover to one state title in the process.
Currently, his efforts at cornerback have Hoover back in the
Xcellent 25 National Rankings.
In fact, Hoover has not lost since the last game of Humphrey's sophomore season, a one-point setback to Prattville in the Class 6A state championship game.
While most expect Humphrey to follow in his father's footsteps and head to Alabama,
the 247Sports Crystal Ball suggests there is one team with an outside chance to land Humphrey: Florida State.
