Alexis Anderson has been named player of the year. "The Western Branch volleyball team already had three captains but this junior and three-year varsity setter provided the kind of example all coaches want by working as hard as she could and helping her team. Alexis, commonly known as Lexi, started as a freshman on varsity. Lexi finished her third year (in-season) with 222 assists, 77 digs, 51 serving aces kills and 12 kills and receptions. Lexi's strength was her ability to have spatial awareness and quick decision making to give her team the best possible chance at scoring. She's just a dynamic player on the court, both physically and mentally. She has grown into a strong leader, was usually one of the first in the gym, she's shown huge growth between her sophomore and junior year in terms of her ability to rally her teammates. She understood her role and often was a go-to player for rallying her teammates. She was always an amazing player from the beginning but she really took control this year."
