The Union Area Scotties basketball team (New Castle, PA), was nudged 52-50 in Wednesday's league battle with the host Carlynton Cougars (Carnegie, PA)

The Cougars now sport a 2-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Rochester for a WPIAL 1A 1 battle on Tuesday, January 9. Carlynton will battle a Rams team coming off a 67-48 league win over Avella (Avella, PA). The Rams record now stands at 6-4.
