The Union Area Scotties (New Castle, PA) basketball crushed the visiting Cornell Raiders (Coraopolis, PA), 56-23 in Friday's league test.

The Scotties (4-7) will now prepare for their test against Western Beaver (Industry, PA). The Golden Beavers go into the WPIAL 1A 1 test with a 2-11 record. In their last test, Western Beaver was trounced by Avella (Avella, PA), 66-62, in a league test.

The Raiders now own a 1-7 record. They play next when they travel to Avella for a WPIAL 1A 1 test on Tuesday, January 9. Cornell will encounter a Eagles squad coming off a 82-38 non-league loss to Weir (Weirton, WV). The Eagles record now stands at 6-6.
