The Independence Patriots topped the visiting East Mecklenburg Eagles basketball team by a final score of 68-51 in Friday's league game.

In their next game, the Patriots face the Rocky River CMS Athletics (Mint Hill, NC) in a 4A Conference 59 game, on Tuesday, January 10. Independence will attempt to move on its 9-7 season record. The CMS Athletics enter the game with a 6-8 record after their 81-62 league loss to Providence (Charlotte, NC).

With the defeat, East Mecklenburg moves to 12-2 on the year. The Eagles travel to Charlotte Catholic (Charlotte, NC) to face the Cougars in a 4A Conference 59 game on Tuesday, January 10.
