Ponaganset Chieftains (North Scituate, RI) supporters left the game satisfied Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad nudge the visiting North Smithfield Northmen (North Smithfield, RI), 84-81 in a league match.

With the victory, Ponaganset advances its record to 5-2 on the year. The Chieftains travel to Exeter-West Greenwich (West Greenwich, RI) to face the Scarlet Knights in a Division III match on Monday, January 13. The Scarlet Knights enter the match with a record of 4-2.

The Northmen now own a 4-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Davies Career & Tech for a Division III match on Friday, January 10. North Smithfield will face a Patriots squad coming off a 56-26 league win over Block Island (New Shoreham, RI). The Patriots record now stands at 4-2.
