Georgia High School Basketball - Monroe Area tops Stephens County
January 20, 2023: Monroe, GA 30656 Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes (Monroe, GA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Stephens County Indians (Toccoa, GA), 71-51 in a league bout.
With the victory, Monroe Area upgrades its record to 15-3 on the campaign. The Purple Hurricanes host Morgan County (Madison, GA) to play the Bulldogs in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 21. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 8-11. Morgan County won 68-66 in their recent league bout against Harlem (Harlem, GA)
Next up, the Indians play the Hebron Christian Academy Lions (Dacula, GA) in a AAA Region 8 bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Stephens County will attempt to upgrade on its 9-8 season record. The Lions come into the bout with a 7-11 record after their 65-55 league win over Franklin County (Carnesville, GA).
