In Saturday's non-league contest, the host Simpson Academy Cougars basketball team scored a close 63-56 triumph over the Leake Academy Rebels.

The Cougars (20-1) will now prepare for their contest against Starkville Academy (Starkville, MS). The Volunteers go into the non-league contest with a 17-8 record. In their last contest, Starkville Academy nipped Columbus Christian Academy (Steens, MS), 73-47, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Rebels confront the Magnolia Heights Chiefs (Senatobia, MS) in a non-league contest, on Wednesday, February 5. Leake Academy will attempt to better on its 20-7 season record.
