The Vela Sabercats basketball team scored 52 points and held the host Pioneer Diamondbacks to 47 in the Sabercats league triumph on Friday.

The Sabercats now sport a 29-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial for a 5A Region IV District 31 contest on Tuesday, February 6. Vela will meet a Wolverines team coming off a 62-31 league win over Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest (Pharr, TX). The Wolverines record now stands at 13-19.

The Diamondbacks (18-13) will now prepare for their contest against Sharyland (Mission, TX). The Rattlers come into the 5A Region IV District 31 bout with a 8-18 record. In their last bout, Sharyland was edged by McAllen (McAllen, TX), 72-45, in a league bout.
