Fans at Tuesday's league contest between the Bunker Hill Bears (Claremont, NC) and the visiting Newton-Conover Red Devils (Newton, NC), observed Bunker Hill's volleyball team top Newton-Conover by a tally of 3-1.

The Bears (2-13) will now prepare for their challenge against Foard (Newton, NC). The Tigers enter the Western Foothills 4A/5A challenge with a 11-8 record. In their last challenge, Foard beat East Lincoln (Denver, NC), 3-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Red Devils meet the South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, October 1. Newton-Conover will attempt to upgrade on its 1-17 season record. The Spartans enter the challenge with a 9-6 record after their 3-0 league loss to Watauga (Boone, NC).
