Indiana High School Basketball - New Palestine tops Pendleton Heights
January 12, 2023: Pendleton, IN 46064 New Palestine Dragons (New Palestine, IN) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Pendleton Heights Arabians (Pendleton, IN), 58-41 in a league bout.
With the victory, New Palestine upgrades its record to 12-0 on the campaign. The Dragons travel to Roncalli (Indianapolis, IN) to play the Royals in a non-league bout on Friday, January 20. The Royals come into the bout with a record of 5-6.
Next up, the Arabians play the Shelbyville Golden Bears (Shelbyville, IN) in a Hoosier Heritage bout, on Saturday, January 14. Pendleton Heights will attempt to upgrade on its 4-9 season record. The Golden Bears come into the bout with a 5-8 record after their 50-49 non-league win over Columbus East (Columbus, IN).
Fourth Quarter
The Arabians battled the Dragons for 3/4s of our game. Unfortunately, the fourth quarter got away from us and the New Palestine once again won a game from us. Six different Arabians scored points with Josiah Gustin leading the way with 15 points. He also led Pendleton Heights in the rebound category with 7 and blocked 4 shots. He was followed in scoring by Brayden Kanitz with 8, Aaron Cookston with 7, Isaac Wilson with 5, Evan Mozingo with 4 and Reese Caplinger with 2. Our next game is this Saturday with the junior varsity contest tipping off at 1:00 at Pendleton Heights Middle School. See you there!
