Mississippi High School Basketball - Wayne County nips Gautier
January 12, 2024: Waynesboro, MS 39367 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Wayne County War Eagles (Waynesboro, MS) and the visiting Gautier Gators (Gautier, MS), saw Wayne County's basketball squad hold off Gautier by a tally of 55-52.
With the victory, Wayne County improves its record to 14-4 on the campaign. The War Eagles travel to West Jones (Laurel, MS) to play the Mustangs in a non-league challenge on Saturday, January 13. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a record of 10-11. West Jones won 39-36 in their recent league challenge against Forest Hill (Jackson, MS)
Next up, the Gators play the Stone Tomcats (Wiggins, MS) in a 5A Region 4 challenge, on Tuesday, January 16. Gautier will attempt to improve on its 8-10 season record. The Tomcats come into the challenge with a 12-5 record after their 63-38 league loss to Laurel (Laurel, MS).
