North Carolina High School Basketball - East Wilkes crushes Alleghany

January 12, 2024: Sparta, NC 28675

East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the host Alleghany Trojans (Sparta, NC), 61-27 in a league bout.

With the victory, East Wilkes upgrades its record to 10-4 on the campaign. The Cardinals travel to Wilkes Central (Wilkesboro, NC) to play the Eagles in a non-league bout on Friday, January 19. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 5-11. Wilkes Central lost 54-31 in their recent league bout against North Wilkes (Hays, NC)

Next up, the Trojans play the Elkin Buckin' Elks (Elkin, NC) in a 1A Northwest bout, on Tuesday, January 16. Alleghany will attempt to upgrade on its 1-12 season record. The Buckin' Elks come into the bout with a 5-8 record after their 43-24 league loss to Starmount (Boonville, NC).
