Illinois High School Basketball - Mercer County crushes Abingdon/Avon
January 13, 2023: Aledo, IL 61231 Mercer County Golden Eagles (Aledo, IL) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes (Abingdon, IL), 65-40 in a league bout.
With the victory, Mercer County upgrades its record to 10-5 on the campaign. The Golden Eagles travel to Wethersfield (Kewanee, IL) to play the Flying Geese in a Lincoln Trail bout on Friday, January 20. The Flying Geese come into the bout with a record of 9-7.
Next up, the Tornadoes play the Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans (Bushnell, IL) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 14. Abingdon/Avon will attempt to upgrade on its 3-14 season record. The Spartans come into the bout with a 14-6 record after their 60-41 non-league loss to Farmington (Farmington, IL).
