Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Irion County Hornets (Mertzon, TX) and the host Garden City Bearkats (Garden City, TX), saw Irion County's basketball squad knock off Garden City by a tally of 50-41.

With the victory, Irion County improves its record to 8-1 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to Bronte (Bronte, TX) to play the Longhorns in a 1A Region II District 11 challenge on Tuesday, January 17. The Longhorns come into the challenge with a record of 13-5. Bronte lost 37-26 in their recent league challenge against Robert Lee (Robert Lee, TX)
