February 3, 2023: Mertzon, TX 76941 In Friday's league outing, the Irion County Hornets (Mertzon, TX) basketball squad overwhelmed the visiting Bronte Longhorns (Bronte, TX), by a count of 48-26.
The Hornets (13-1) will now prepare for their outing against Garden City (Garden City, TX). The Bearkats go into the 1A Region II District 11 outing with a 18-5 record. In their last outing, Garden City smashed Blackwell (Blackwell, TX), 65-26, in a league outing.
The Longhorns now hold a 15-8 record. They play next when they host Robert Lee for a 1A Region II District 11 outing on Saturday, February 4. Bronte will clash with a Steers squad coming off a 26-25 league win over Veribest (Veribest, TX). The Steers record now stands at 11-16.
