Piper Pirates (Kansas City, KS) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host West Chargers (Topeka, KS), 71-56 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Piper upgrades its record to 6-3 on the season. The Pirates host Bonner Springs (Bonner Springs, KS) to play the Braves in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Braves go into the bout with a record of 5-3. Bonner Springs lost 75-56 in their recent non-league bout against Eudora (Eudora, KS)

Next up, the Chargers play the Lansing Lions (Lansing, KS) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, January 19. West will attempt to upgrade on its 6-2 season record. The Lions go into the bout with a 1-8 record after their 45-32 non-league loss to Basehor-Linwood (Basehor, KS).
