Arkansas High School Basketball - Newport crushes Walnut Ridge
January 14, 2023: Walnut Ridge, AR 72476 Newport Greyhounds (Newport, AR) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the host Walnut Ridge Bobcats (Walnut Ridge, AR), 61-34 in a league bout.
With the victory, Newport upgrades its record to 8-7 on the campaign. The Greyhounds host Hoxie (Hoxie, AR) to play the Mustangs in a 3A Region 2 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Mustangs come into the bout with a record of 6-7. Hoxie won 67-57 in their recent non-league bout against East Poinsett County (Lepanto, AR)
Next up, the Bobcats play the Harrisburg Hornets (Harrisburg, AR) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 16. Walnut Ridge will attempt to upgrade on its 6-9 season record. The Hornets come into the bout with a 10-8 record after their 76-35 league loss to Corning (Corning, AR).
