In Wednesday's league contest, the visiting El Capitan Gauchos basketball team scored a good 56-46 triumph over the Merced Bears.

The Gauchos (10-7) will now prepare for their challenge against Buhach Colony (Atwater, CA). The Thunder come into the Central California Conference challenge with a 9-9 record. In their last challenge, Buhach Colony dropped by Golden Valley (Merced, CA), 80-58, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Bears encounter the Los Banos Tigers (Los Banos, CA) in a Central California Conference challenge, on Friday, January 17. Merced will attempt to improve on its 11-8 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 13-3 record after their 64-46 league loss to Atwater (Atwater, CA).
