The Merced Bears defeated the host El Capitan Gauchos basketball squad by a final score of 72-63 in Friday's league outing.

Next, the Bears clash with the Los Banos Tigers (Los Banos, CA) in a Central California Conference outing, on Wednesday, February 5. Merced will attempt to upgrade on its 15-9 season record. The Tigers come into the outing with a 13-8 record after their 57-47 league loss to Atwater (Atwater, CA).

The Gauchos (15-8) will now prepare for their outing against Buhach Colony (Atwater, CA). The Thunder go into the Central California Conference game with a 10-13 record. In their last game, Buhach Colony was beaten by Golden Valley (Merced, CA), 56-42, in a league test.
