Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Vega Longhorns (Vega, TX) and the visiting Bovina Mustangs (Bovina, TX), saw Vega's basketball squad hold off Bovina by a tally of 49-48.

With the victory, Vega improves its record to 12-7 on the campaign. The Longhorns travel to Farwell (Farwell, TX) to confront the Steers in a 2A Region I District 3 challenge on Friday, January 20. The Steers come into the challenge with a record of 17-4. Farwell won 68-38 in their recent league challenge against Boys Ranch (Boys Ranch, TX)

Next up, the Mustangs confront the Panhandle Panthers (Panhandle, TX) in a 2A Region I District 3 challenge, on Friday, January 20. Bovina will attempt to improve on its 13-9 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 14-5 record after their 60-37 league win over Highland Park (Amarillo, TX).
