In Friday's league test, the Union Pines Vikings (Cameron, NC) basketball squad knocked off the host Pinecrest Patriots (Southern Pines, NC), by a score of 57-42.

Next, the Vikings encounter the Lee County Yellow Jackets (Sanford, NC) in a 3A/4A Sandhills test, on Friday, January 24. Union Pines will attempt to improve on its 17-0 season record. The Yellow Jackets come into the test with a 7-7 record after their 37-36 league win over Southern Lee (Sanford, NC).

The Patriots (9-8) will now prepare for their test against Fairmont (Fairmont, NC). The Golden Tornadoes come into the non-league test with a 13-1 record. In their last test, Fairmont beat Hoke County (Raeford, NC), 55-23, in a non-league test.
