Illinois High School Basketball - Moline nips Sterling
January 19, 2024: Moline, IL 61265 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Moline Maroons (Moline, IL) and the visiting Sterling Golden Warriors (Sterling, IL), saw Moline's basketball squad hold off Sterling by a tally of 53-47.
With the victory, Moline improves its record to 17-2 on the campaign. The Maroons host LaSalle-Peru (LaSalle, IL) to play the Cavaliers in a non-league challenge on Saturday, January 20. The Cavaliers come into the challenge with a record of 15-5. LaSalle-Peru won 59-48 in their recent league challenge against Kaneland (Maple Park, IL)
Next up, the Golden Warriors play the Rock Island Rocks (Rock Island, IL) in a Western Big 6 challenge, on Tuesday, January 23. Sterling will attempt to improve on its 16-4 season record. The Rocks come into the challenge with a 16-6 record after their 35-29 non-league win over Lincoln (Lincoln, IL).
