Mallard Creek Mavericks (Charlotte, NC) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting West Charlotte Lions (Charlotte, NC), 41-40 in a league bout.

With the win, Mallard Creek upgrades its record to 12-2 on the season. The Mavericks host South Mecklenburg (Charlotte, NC) to play the Sabres in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 21. The Sabres go into the bout with a record of 1-10. South Mecklenburg lost 63-51 in their recent non-league bout against Palisades (Charlotte, NC)

Next up, the Lions play the West Mecklenburg Hawks (Charlotte, NC) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 24. West Charlotte will attempt to upgrade on its 6-7 season record. The Hawks go into the bout with a 2-10 record after their 62-23 non-league loss to Chambers (Charlotte, NC).
