New York High School Basketball - Catholic Central knocked off by Cohoes
January 21, 2022: Troy, NY 12182 The Cohoes Tigers basketball team scored 89 points and held the host Catholic Central Crusaders to 76 in the Tigers league triumph on Friday.
The Tigers now sport a 10-1 record. They put it on the line next when they host Cobleskill-Richmondville for a Section 2 Colonial - Patriot contest on Monday, January 24. Cohoes will meet a Bulldogs team coming off a 51-48 non-league win over Lansingburgh (Troy, NY). The Bulldogs record now stands at 5-9.
The Crusaders (8-3) will now prepare for their contest against Schalmont (Schenectady, NY). The Sabres enter the non-league contest with a 2-6 record. In their last contest, Schalmont was defeated by La Salle Institute (Troy, NY), 66-49, in a league contest.
First Quarter
Royal Brown had 11 and SeMier Roberson 10 led their teams in the first as the Tigers raced out to a 5 point lead
Second Quarter
Royal Brown added 10 more for the Tigers but Darien Moore had 11 of his own but the Tigers won the 2nd quarter 22-20
Third Quarter
Moore and Roberson had 7 apiece but S Fairley exploded for 17 points on 5/6 threes in the period the Tigers blew open the game
Fourth Quarter
The Crusaders battled to the end, behind 2 rebounds 2 steals 2 assists and a 3 point bucket by Xaul Arroyo as CCHS cut the final margin to 13
