The Tigers now possess a 16-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host Scott Central for a 2A Region 5 battle on Friday, January 26. Newton will confront a Rebels team coming off a 56-55 league loss to Clarkdale (Meridian, MS). The Rebels record now stands at 11-9.
The Hornets (7-13) will now prepare for their battle against Bay Springs (Bay Springs, MS). The Bulldogs come into the 2A Region 5 battle with a 14-5 record. In their last battle, Bay Springs was trounced by Newton (Newton, MS), 67-47, in a league outing.
