January 2, 2024: Forest, MS 39074 Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Newton Tigers (Newton, MS) and the host Scott Central Rebels (Forest, MS), saw Newton's basketball squad overcome Scott Central by a tally of 56-48.
With the victory, Newton improves its record to 11-5 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Bay Springs (Bay Springs, MS) to confront the Bulldogs in a 2A Region 5 challenge on Friday, January 5. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a record of 10-3. Bay Springs won 70-47 in their recent non-league challenge against Taylorsville (Taylorsville, MS)
Next up, the Rebels confront the Lake Hornets (Lake, MS) in a 2A Region 5 challenge, on Friday, January 5. Scott Central will attempt to improve on its 7-7 season record. The Hornets come into the challenge with a 6-7 record after their 62-47 league loss to Clarkdale (Meridian, MS).
