The Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers basketball squad (Newtown Square, PA), was nudged 70-65 in Thursday's league battle with the visiting Springfield Cougars (Springfield, PA)

With the victory, Springfield advances its record to 12-5 on the year. The Cougars host Strath Haven (Wallingford, PA) to meet the Panthers in a Central battle on Tuesday, January 28. The Panthers enter the battle with a record of 7-10. Strath Haven lost 44-34 in their recent league battle against Penncrest (Media, PA)

The Fightin' Tigers now own a 9-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Delaware County Christian for a non-league battle on Saturday, January 25. Marple Newtown will meet a Knights squad coming off a 79-76 non-league win over Pope John Paul II (Royersford, PA). The Knights record now stands at 14-1.
