The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets (Bessemer City, NC) and the host East Gaston Warriors (Mt. Holly, NC), observed Bessemer City's basketball team overwhelm East Gaston by a margin of 84-61.

The Yellow Jackets (10-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Shelby (Shelby, NC). The Golden Lions come into the 1A/2A Southern Piedmont challenge with a 5-5 record. In their last challenge, Shelby trounced Kings Mountain (Kings Mountain, NC), 58-53, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Warriors battle the Cherryville Ironmen (Cherryville, NC) in a 1A/2A Southern Piedmont challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. East Gaston will attempt to better on its 1-11 season record. The Ironmen come into the challenge with a 0-13 record after their 70-33 league loss to Burns (Lawndale, NC).
