The Cherryville Ironmen basketball squad (Cherryville, NC), was nudged 65-63 in Wednesday's league battle with the visiting East Gaston Warriors (Mt. Holly, NC)

With the victory, East Gaston advances its record to 3-15 on the year. The Warriors host Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy (Mooresboro, NC) to meet the Gryphons in a 1A/2A Southern Piedmont battle on Friday, January 31. The Gryphons enter the battle with a record of 13-5. Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy lost 74-58 in their recent league battle against Shelby (Shelby, NC)

The Ironmen now own a 1-18 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Bessemer City for a 1A/2A Southern Piedmont battle on Friday, January 31. Cherryville will meet a Yellow Jackets squad coming off a 93-76 league loss to Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy (Mooresboro, NC). The Yellow Jackets record now stands at 10-8.
