Virginia High School Basketball - George Wythe overwhelms Giles
January 31, 2024: Wytheville, VA 24382 Fans at Wednesday's league challenge between the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) and the visiting Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA), saw George Wythe's basketball squad wallop Giles by a tally of 77-21.
With the victory, George Wythe improves its record to 14-4 on the campaign. The Maroons host Auburn (Riner, VA) to confront the Eagles in a Mountain Empire challenge on Friday, February 2. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 11-7. Auburn won 75-47 in their recent league challenge against Galax (Galax, VA)
Next up, the Spartans confront the Fort Chiswell Pioneers (Max Meadows, VA) in a Mountain Empire challenge, on Friday, February 2. Giles will attempt to improve on its 3-14 season record. The Pioneers come into the challenge with a 8-10 record after their 53-40 league loss to Galax (Galax, VA).
