The Smithson Valley Rangers (Spring Branch, TX) basketball crushed the visiting Canyon Cougars (New Braunfels, TX), 56-34 in Friday's league test.

The Rangers (9-9) will now prepare for their test against Boerne-Champion (Boerne, TX). The Chargers go into the 5A Region IV District 26 test with a 8-17 record. In their last test, Boerne-Champion was trounced by Pieper (San Antonio, TX), 54-21, in a league test.

The Cougars now own a 9-12 record. They play next when they host Seguin for a 5A Region IV District 26 test on Tuesday, January 9. Canyon will encounter a Matadors squad coming off a 48-42 league win over Veterans Memorial (San Antonio, TX). The Matadors record now stands at 8-18.
