In Tuesday's league contest, the host Ashley Screaming Eagle basketball team scored a close 47-42 win over the West Brunswick Trojans.

The Screaming Eagle (6-7) will now prepare for their contest against New Hanover (Wilmington, NC). The Wildcats come into the 3A/4A Mideastern contest with a 10-2 record. In their last contest, New Hanover edged North Brunswick (Leland, NC), 88-61, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Trojans battle the Topsail Pirates (Hampstead, NC) in a 3A/4A Mideastern test, on Friday, January 10. West Brunswick will attempt to improve on its 8-6 season record. The Pirates come into the test with a 6-6 record after their 83-43 league loss to Hoggard (Wilmington, NC).
