In Wednesday's non-league contest, the host Gretna Hawks basketball team scored a big 58-23 triumph over the Halifax County Comets.

The Hawks (3-1) will now prepare for their contest against Appomattox County (Appomattox, VA). The Raiders go into the Dogwood contest with a 1-4 record. In their last contest, Appomattox County was trounced by Rustburg (Rustburg, VA), 39-28, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Comets confront the Magna Vista Warriors (Ridgeway, VA) in a Piedmont contest, on Friday, December 13. Halifax County will attempt to better on its 3-2 season record. The Warriors go into the contest with a 1-2 record after their 55-50 non-league win over Pulaski County (Dublin, VA).
