The crowd at Thursday's non-league challenge between the McCool Junction Mustangs (McCool Junction, NE) and the host Shelby-Rising City Huskies (Shelby, NE), observed McCool Junction's basketball team knock off Shelby-Rising City by a score of 53-39.

The Mustangs (4-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Sutton (Sutton, NE). The Mustangs come into the non-league challenge with a 4-2 record.

In their next game, the Huskies battle the High Plains Storm (Polk, NE) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, January 3. Shelby-Rising City will attempt to improve on its 0-4 season record. The Storm come into the challenge with a 3-3 record after their 55-29 non-league win over Giltner (Giltner, NE).
