North Carolina High School Basketball - Croatan nips New Bern

December 21, 2023: Newport, NC 28570

Croatan Cougars (Newport, NC) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting New Bern Bears (New Bern, NC), 56-50 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Croatan upgrades its record to 12-0 on the campaign. The Cougars host Ashley (Wilmington, NC) to play the Screaming Eagle in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 3. The Screaming Eagle come into the bout with a record of 2-5.

Next up, the Bears play the Coastal Christian Centurions (Wilmington, NC) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, December 27. New Bern will attempt to upgrade on its 7-4 season record. The Centurions come into the bout with a 8-5 record after their 64-61 non-league loss to Northwood Temple Academy (Fayetteville, NC).
