The Wheeler Bearcats basketball team (Valparaiso, IN), was nudged 46-40 in Thursday's non-league battle with the visiting Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles (Lake Station, IN)

The Fighting Eagles now possess a 1-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Whiting for a Greater South Shore battle on Saturday, January 6.

The Bearcats (3-7) will now prepare for their battle against Griffith (Griffith, IN). The Panthers come into the Greater South Shore battle with a 6-5 record. In their last battle, Griffith edged Highland (Highland, IN), 39-29, in a non-league battle.
