Match Summary
We controlled most of the first-half action against an evenly-matched team. Our best chance came on EmmaW's mid-range free kick in the 15th m: their keeper muffed catching it, and Juliana was Tripodi-on-the-spot in front of the net—but she couldn't get her boot on the ball, so all went for naught. And a couple of minutes later Aliyah fell just short of running down a long through-ball the right corner that might have been promising. So with our defense doing a great job holding them shotless for the half, we were notched at 0-0 at the break. The second half saw us put up 2 unproductive shots on goal, but Maclay doubled that output—and 2 of those we good for scores, in the 55th and 69th minutes. Audrey's hard work earned her kudos as Player of the Game. We set what was surely a new record of 6 handball calls against us (Maclay added one of their own). And the refs were absolute sticklers for proper throw-in etiquette, whistling both teams for 7 combined foot violations.
