Virginia High School Basketball - George Wythe triumphant over Grayson County
February 4, 2025: Independence, VA 24348 The crowd at Tuesday's league challenge between the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) and the host Grayson County Blue Devils (Independence, VA), observed George Wythe's basketball team overwhelm Grayson County by a score of 67-27.
The Maroons (15-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Auburn (Riner, VA). The Eagles come into the Mountain Empire challenge with a 9-12 record. In their last challenge, Auburn trounced Eastern Montgomery (Elliston, VA), 53-46, in a non-league challenge.
In their next game, the Blue Devils encounter the Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA) in a Mountain Empire challenge, on Thursday, February 6. Grayson County will attempt to improve on its 10-7 season record. The Bears come into the challenge with a 11-5 record after their 57-48 league win over Giles (Pearisburg, VA).
