Nevada High School Basketball - Cimarron-Memorial thwarted by Chaparral
February 6, 2024: Las Vegas, NV 89121 The Cimarron-Memorial Spartans basketball team (Las Vegas, NV), dropped 56-42 in Tuesday's league battle with the host Chaparral Cowboys (Las Vegas, NV)
The Cowboys now possess a 2-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host Eldorado for a non-league battle on Thursday, February 8.
The Spartans (7-13) will now prepare for their battle against Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV). The Gaels come into the non-league battle with a 16-2 record. In their last battle, Bishop Gorman beat Sierra Vista (Las Vegas, NV), 67-40, in a non-league outing.
First Quarter
Chaparral dominated the Spartans in the 1st Quarter, taking a 18 to 3 lead early. Their Power Forward #24 had 7 points in the opening Quarter & couldn't be stopped. Their slashing Guard #5 had 6 points as well. The Spartans missed many open point blank layups & couldn't hit an outside shot.
Second Quarter
In the 2nd Quarter the Spartans were outscored again, 14 to 12 & #24 had 6 more point to lead all scorers. Chaparral lead 32 to 15 at half time.
Third Quarter
The Spartans outscored Chaparral 14 to 12 in the third by creating some turnovers, but many missed layups again & run out baskets kept Cimarron down 44 - 29 going into the final Quarter.
Fourth Quarter
The Spartans close the gap to 47 to 39 late in the 4th Quarter, but unfortunately once again the missed many layups, & 3 Point Shots.
#24 finished with 21 Points, #3 finished with 14 Points including 2 wide open 3 Point Shots, #5 finished with 12 Points
