The Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) baseball trounced the visiting Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC), 6-0 in Tuesday's league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 20-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to South Caldwell for a Northwestern 6A/7A challenge on Friday, April 24. Alexander Central will clash with a Spartans team coming off a 8-5 league loss to St. Stephens (Hickory, NC). The Spartans record now stands at 16-5.

With the defeat, Freedom drops to 7-13 on the year. The Patriots host Maiden (Maiden, NC) to clash with the Blue Devils in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 22. The Blue Devils go into the challenge with a record of 5-11. Maiden lost 12-0 in their recent league challenge against Hickory (Hickory, NC)
